Is PasteNotch really free?
Yes. Free includes 200 local clips per device, search, filters, pins, and Pages. No account, card, or subscription is required. Cloud is an optional $2.99/month plan.
Does my clipboard leave my Mac?
Your free library stays local. Signing in does not upload it. Cloud subscribers can explicitly enable sync for eligible clips and Pages. Sensitive clips, locked Pages, temporary clips, and local file references are excluded from Cloud clip sync.
What do I need to run it?
macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later. Download the ZIP and move PasteNotch to Applications. PasteNotch works on Macs with or without a hardware notch.
How do I use it?
Copy something as usual. Open PasteNotch from the notch or press ⇧⌘V, search or choose a Page, then select your clip. Automatic paste into another app requires Accessibility permission; copying works without it.
Are screenshots and recording included?
For new customers, Cloud adds screenshot capture, area OCR, screen recording, bookmarks, uploads, sharing, and a web library, with 25 GB of storage. Eligible clipboard sync is optional. Existing lifetime owners retain their purchased capture tools.
What happens when I reach 200 clips?
The oldest unpinned clip makes room for a new one. Protected clips are retained, and existing larger libraries are not silently trimmed.
Which permissions does it need?
Accessibility enables automatic paste into another app. Screen & System Audio Recording is requested when you first use screenshots, area OCR, or recording. Microphone access is only needed for recording with your mic on.
Will it capture my passwords?
PasteNotch skips clipboard items marked concealed, transient, or auto-generated by apps such as password managers. It also flags likely secrets for masked previews and optional expiry. Keep using your password manager for secrets.
