Privacy Policy
Last updated 29 October 2026
PasteNotch is a clipboard manager for Mac and iPhone, with an optional paid service, PasteNotch Cloud. It is made and run by Vladimir Babic (“we”). This policy explains what data PasteNotch handles, where it goes, and the choices you have. Questions: [email protected].
The short version
- Your clipboard history is stored on your device. It is not sent to us unless you choose to move your library to PasteNotch Cloud.
- Your account holds your email address so we know who you are, which plan you have, and which devices are signed in.
- We do not sell your data, show ads, or use advertising or analytics trackers.
- We never use your clips to train AI models.
Your account
You sign in with Sign in with Apple, Google, or a one-time code sent to your email. We store:
- Your email address. With Sign in with Apple this may be an Apple private relay address.
- An identifier from Apple or Google for your account with them, so you can sign in again. We only request your email address from them. We never receive your Apple or Google password.
- Your signed-in devices: a device name you can see and revoke in Settings, and when each session expires.
- When your free trial started, and your plan status.
Signing in never uploads your clipboard history.
Clipboard history on your devices
PasteNotch saves what you copy, along with the app it came from, on your device. On the Mac you can keep your library on that Mac only, or sync it between your Macs through iCloud. iCloud sync uses your own private iCloud database operated by Apple; we cannot read it.
You control what is saved: you can pause capture, ignore specific apps, and let one-time codes and password-like clips clear automatically. Copies that password managers mark as private are skipped without being read.
PasteNotch Cloud
PasteNotch Cloud is a paid, opt-in service. When you use it, we store on our servers (hosted by Cloudflare):
- Clips and Pages you move to PasteNotch Cloud, and screenshots, screen recordings and files you upload. Sensitive clips, locked Pages, temporary clips and local file references stay on your device.
- Bookmarks you save from your browser: the page address and title, and, if you turn on visual context, the visible text and an image of the browser window.
- Share links you create. Anyone with a share link can open that item until you revoke the link.
To make your Cloud library searchable, Cloudflare Workers AI generates short descriptions of uploaded images and search vectors for bookmarks. This runs inside Cloudflare on your own Cloud content only. It is never applied to your clipboard history, and your content is not used to train models.
Payments
Purchases and subscriptions are handled by Polar (polar.sh), our merchant of record. Polar collects your payment details; we never see your card number. We receive your email address, what you bought, and your license or subscription status.
Service providers
- Cloudflare: hosting, database, file storage and AI search for PasteNotch Cloud and this website.
- Polar: payments, licenses, invoices and subscription management.
- Resend: delivery of sign-in codes and account emails.
- Apple and Google: sign-in, if you choose them; Apple also for iCloud sync and app distribution.
They process data only to provide their service to us.
How long we keep data
- Clipboard history on your devices stays until you delete it or it passes the history limit you set.
- If your PasteNotch Cloud subscription ends, your Cloud content is kept for 30 days so you can download it, then deleted.
- When you delete your account in Settings, we delete your account, sessions and sign-in links, and your Cloud content is purged. Billing records Polar must keep for tax purposes stay with Polar.
Your rights
You can access, export, correct or delete your data. Most of this is built in: export a backup from Settings → Data, and delete your account from Settings → Plan on the Mac or Settings → Account on iPhone. For anything else, email [email protected] and we will respond within 30 days. If you are in the EU or UK you can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
PasteNotch is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date above, and tell you in the app for significant changes.
